Now carrying the “COSMIC COLLECTION” designed by Faye Toogood for Tacchini.

Faye Toogood, acclaimed for her boundary-defying creativity, has been named Designer of the Year at Maison et Objet 2025. Seamlessly navigating the worlds of design and fashion, she continues to redefine contemporary aesthetics with her imaginative and unconventional approach.

Unveiled during Milan Design Week 2024, the COSMIC COLLECTION marks the first collaboration between Toogood and Tacchini. This collection unites the British designer’s whimsical vision with Tacchini’s storied craftsmanship, resulting in a series of sculptural pieces defined by organic forms, irregular ovals, and tactile softness. Infused with Toogood’s distinctive wit, the designs transcend functionality, bridging art and daily life in timeless fashion.

Giusi Tacchini, CEO and Art Director of Tacchini, commented on the collection:

“We are thrilled to unveil the extraordinary outcome of our collaboration with Faye Toogood. This project has been a dynamic and synergistic process, guided by mutual trust and a shared commitment to excellence.

COSMIC COLLECTION: A Celebration of Material Beauty and the Warmth of Craftsmanship The collection is united by organic forms and designs inspired by nature. It reflects Toogood Studio’s deep appreciation for materials that are both rough and refined. Faye Toogood shares insights into the design process and collaboration with Tacchini:

“I try to put as much of myself, and my energy into the objects. My process is tactile and emotional. The shape of the chair came from pushing my fingers into the clay maquette, squashing the three layers together. I don’t connect with design done at a distance. These biomorphic shapes haven’t been created on a computer, they are found by hand.”

“Tacchini are titans of Italian design. Since the sixties they have led with impeccable craft and ultra-modern ideas. I find their archive incredibly glamorous, but not stuffy or untouchable. It’s their sense of play that I connected with, and wanted to lean into with this collaboration.” – Faye Toogood.

Solar

As a key highlight of the COSMIC COLLECTION, Solar comprises two seating models: a sofa and a daybed. These pieces evoke the image of stacked cushions, expressing Toogood’s characteristic irony and sculptural sensibility. The upholstery—Tacchini’s iconic fabric reimagined—features intentional wrinkling to merge softness with dimensional form.

Lunar

A pendant light crafted from quilted fabric and enveloped in a crinkled, paper-like cover. The soft internal fill diffuses light gently, casting a warm, atmospheric glow.

“Who are we to say that gold is more precious than tin? A huge part of my work has been focused on creating “wow” out of ubiquitous, simple materials. I designed Lunar by taking a handful of sofa wadding and squashing it between two pieces of A4 printer paper.” — Faye Toogood

Orbit

Featuring the COSMIC COLLECTION’s signature irregular ovals, Orbit includes both a coffee table and a desk. Curved wooden legs wrapped in leather support smooth, pebble-like tops. Each top is finished with a glossy lacquered edge and centered with a rounded leather inlay. The asymmetry reflects Toogood’s intuitive and emotionally driven design process.

Astral

A sculptural, wall-mounted cabinet born from a tactile design process. The silhouette was first discovered using flexible aluminum mesh, then refined and scaled up in steel. Its fluid, curved outline challenges the perception of straight lines, while maintaining horizontal, practical shelving—ideal for showcasing books and cherished objects.

Stellar

A wall mirror framed by pillow-like cushions, upholstered in Tacchini’s iconic fabric. This soft form contrasts with the traditional rigidity of mirrors, offering a playful reinterpretation of domestic objects.

“I think Cosmic brings a distinctly female sensibility to the Tacchini story. I wanted this collection to be full of strong and sculptural shapes, but to explore a softness that feels new for Tacchini.” — Faye Toogood
